About Mary Alice Sinton
Teacher/Designer – Blue Bonnet Studio, LLC
Mary Alice is a fully accredited Japanese silk and bead embroidery teacher. She teaches classes nearly every year at chapter or annual meetings. Monthly study groups in Japanese Embroidery are held in Houston, TX, with annual or di-annual study groups in other locations.
Mary Alice is truly an amazing designer and teacher and we can all look forward to having her demonstrate her talent in Japanese Bead embroidery during this two day in-person class!
Kit Information
All project kits include beads, cotton fabric (printed), Gutermann sewing threads (Black and Bone), design paper & pattern, Japanese needles (M2 & M3) with ultra-fine needle threader, a color image reference, and a special Japanese Beading Koma.
IMPORTANT: If you already own a beading Koma and do not need one, you can minus $25.00 off your kit price!
The Teardrop Medallion Pin Cushion kit includes a Sudberry wooden pincushion.
The Whirligig Treasure Chest kit includes a Sudberry wooden box.
The Lotus Blossom Clutch kit also includes the clutch frame, shell, chain and pink floral lining.
The Prince Charming kit comes with a satin square box.
About the Class
Bead Embroidery in the Japanese method incorporates silk embroidery techniques translated with beads. The beads used are a wide variety of tri-cut and glass seed beads. A Japanese tool called a beading Koma is used to couch down lines of beads to create smooth curves.

There are two different styles of Sudberry Wooden Pin Cushions to choose from! The kit for this project includes a Sudberry wooden pincushion (5” no tray, 7.5” with tray). The foundation fabric is 100% cotton called Safari SO Goodie by Wilmington Prints. Attendees will need to bring stretcher bars (8″ x 8″). See pictures below.

Whirligig Treasure Chest | Kit Price: $90.00

There are two different color choices for the Lotus Blossom Clutch. The kit for this project also includes the clutch frame, shell, chain and pink floral lining. The fabric used is the floral design “Rainbow Flight” by Wilmington Prints.

Prince Charming | Kit Price $120.00
Make this adorable box in blue, coral, or green! The floral cotton fabric is a pattern called “Prince Charming” by Tula Pink. The kits for this project come with a satin square box.

Supplies
All attendees will need to bring a clamp or frame weight, tacks, silk pins (thinnest possible), a beading awl, and scissors (a pair for paper and a pair for embroidery).
